Grant Imahara (best known for his work on Mythbusters) Has passed away from a brain aneurysm at age 49.
This...this hit me a lot harder than i expected. The mythbusters show was one of the few things I enjoyed watching as a kid growing up, and their humor and presence was something I also loved.
I am truly and deeply saddened. I can only wish his family and friends that they find peace in this.

He always seemed like one of the youngest and healthiest of the lot of them. This is not very cheerful news to go to bed with. This, this is hard to hear.

I have tears. This was someone who I looked up to greatly. Hard to hear is not the 1/2 of it

Brain aneurysms are like that, often no symptoms whatsoever. Sometimes headaches now and then, but often not even that.

It is one of those things that no one c ould have predicted but in an instant it can take a life. Scary things, especially when it hits a person so many people look up to. I remember how impressed I was with him on the show.

In an instant, a truly brilliant mind was snuffed out, one that many people including myself looked up to.

As a fan of Battlebots, Grant Imahara was (in)famous for having one of the deadliest middleweight bots of the early 2000s in Deadblow. He was doing this for fun and had no qualms about embarassing entire teams of people who did this with some pretty major backing.
Every time I saw deadblow in the background of a Mythbusters episode, I had the biggest smile on my face as a kid.
Let us all remember one of Grant’s “Glory moments” - the time he set the record for most hits in a match in organized robot combat. I think one or two bots have been able to top it, but that’s rather iffy, and he did this something like 20 years ago.

To say that this is saddening does not do my emotions justice. Mythbusters was a huge part of my childhood.
What a stain of a year this has been.

Woah...
that is isn’t even in the top 100 unexpected things to happen list... it is way more unexpected than I would think to put on that list.
The Robot Skeleton Army Salutes one of their Generals with full honors.
Condolences, and sympathies to all of his friends and loved ones.

Fucking hell.
Mythbusters was without a doubt my favourite/most watched show when I was a kid/teenager. I don’t even know what to say, this just sucks.

Yes, this can happen. One of my university class mates died from this in his mid 20's . He was a h ealthy looking guy. He was visiting his home town and was spend ing an evening in a bar. A pparently he just suddenly fell on the floor and never came conscious .
Sad to lose Grant too.

I saw this when I woke up this morning, still trying to process it. Mythbusters was a huge part of my life growing up and Grant’s robots on the show are a huge part of why I got into robotics and now work as an electrical engineer. Deeply saddening to see someone so young gone so early.

He was always my favorite by a country mile. Enthusiastic without being too silly, professional without being stuffy, knowledgeable without being a bore, and generally just someone who lightened the mood, brightened the day,
and was... wholesome

I had seen that he passed, but an aneurysm is just rough :/ Hope he went painlessly.
RIP, thoughts are with his family and friends.

Damn. For whatever reason, he was my favorite of the group, too. What will August 2020 have for us?
Aneurysms suck - my dad was claimed the same way, came pretty much out of nowhere.

Not always. My buddy called his girlfriend across the country because he didn’t know what was happening. She heard him throwing up then fall. She called emergency services in his city and they found him dead.
My MIL best friend died of one when she was in college. She was screaming all the way to the hospital.
My aunt died of one as well . She had a seizure and died pretty quickly.
Worse thing about most covid deaths is you have to die alone.

I used to watch that all the time and mythbusters and never put 2 and 2 together that it was him.
